SUMMER ROUTINES

This time of year, routines tend to get a bit wobbly.

The weather is finally nice, the days stretch longer, we start traveling more, making plans after work, eating dinner outside at 9pm, generally remembering that we have lives beyond our inboxes. Which is good! Necessary, even. But it also means this is usually the point where a lot of us fall out of rhythm with ourselves.

One missed week turns into three. Your body starts feeling a little less connected. The habits that were carrying you through winter loosen up.

Summer wellness culture can sometimes makes things worse. Everything becomes “summer bodies” and optimization and pressure, when really, this season is supposed to feel alive. Social. Even joyful!

The trick is staying connected to yourself while your routine shifts.

That might mean coming to class twice a week instead of four. Taking an evening walk with a friend. Showing up tired instead of skipping altogether. Letting movement support your life instead of trying to organize your entire life around movement.

One thing we’ve always wanted The Pearl to be is sustainable. Not a place where you burn yourself out trying to become a new person, but somewhere that gently folds into your actual life over time.

The studio energy has been really sweet lately. Open windows, sweaty post-class chatter, people lingering outside afterward. Summer at the studio just feels good.

A few little reminders / happenings:

  • Thursday night Run Club in Mott Haven with Jessy P is officially underway 👟 Meet at the studio at 6:30pm and head out together for a neighborhood run.

  • Sunset Yoga moves outside to The Morris Yacht Club on City Island

  • There are still a couple spots left on our Greece retreat this summer 🇬🇷

  • Pilates Teacher Training starts in July, and we’re getting very excited to welcome our fifth cohort of apprentices into the program 💙

Drink some water, don't forget your sunscreen, take your walks, and come move with us when you can.

See ya on the mat!
